Making Movies

You can make your own movie in the Kerpoof Animation Studio! Pick a background. Pick characters from Kerpoof. See what each character can do. Now make up a story for them. It's easy and fun!

Your First Movie

To make a movie, click Make a Movie on the Kerpoof activity page and then choose the kind of movie you want. When you get to the scene you want, pick a character you think you'll like. Click on the character and hold down your mouse button. Now drag the character into the scene. Let go of your mouse button. Now you can see your character. Click on the character. Here's the snail. See the tools that come up?

On the left side of your character you'll see two arrows. If you click on those arrows and drag you can change the characters size. Remember to hold down your mouse button! These arrows can also turn your character around.

You've picked a scene and your characters. Now youre ready to make a movie!

Making Characters Move

Click on one of your characters. See how the cat glows orange? Below your scene you will see all the things your character can do. The cat can Say or Move. Those only work if you use them. But you can try the other actions by clicking them.

To make your movie, drag the "action methods" into the area to the right. These are time lines for your movie.

If you want to MOVE your character you have to do THREE steps. To tell the character where to go, you use the Waypoint tool. It points the way for our characters. Click and drag the Waypoint tool into the scene. Each Waypoint will have a letter.

Now, click the character you want to move and drag his Move method onto the timeline.

Next, answer some questions.

Duration: How long do you want the action to take? The box will say 2.0 seconds. Do you want it to be faster or slower? Just put in how many seconds you want it to take.

Destination: Which Waypoint do you want the character to move to? We chose A.

That's It! Once you've got this down, the rest is easy!

Doing Two Things at the Same Time

See how there is more than one timeline? That's so you can have more than one thing happen at once. You can walk and talk at the same time. So can your characters. You and your friend can both walk at the same time. So can two or more of your characters.

When you want more than one thing to happen at the same time, put them side-by-side on the timeline. We want the cat to look scared. At the SAME time, we want the snail to say "Look, a scaredy cat!"

Play your movie and see what happens.

Multiple Scenes / Standalone Player

A movie doesn't take place in just one location! You can add a new scene to your movie by clicking on the film strip on the left. This brings up a window with all the scenes in your movie. You can add a new scene to your movie by clicking on the add button. Just click on the new scene you'd like to add, and poof! it's in your movie.

Once you're happy with your movie, you can watch it all by itself. Click the button with two squares on it to go into standalone player mode. Click it again, to return to the editing mode. In the Standalone player you can play your movie from start to finish.

Saving and Sharing Your Work

Now that you've created you're awesome movie, you want to save it so you can watch it again or share it with people. It's as easy as hitting the save button on the left. If you aren't logged in yet, you'll be asked to log in before you can save. It's now time to give your movie a title. After your movie is saved, you can return to the Kerpoof activity page to create a new work of art or view your other art.

All your saved artwork is kept under "My Gallary." Just click the picture of your masterpeice to work on it again. You can also share your artwork with others by clicking on the more button. Just drag the artwork you'd like to share to the sharing hands. After your artwork has been approved, it will show up in the "Shared Gallery." You can also delete any old art work that you don't like by dragging it to the trashcan.
