Thanks for visiting Kerpoof and for visiting this page to learn more about Kerpoof. The information that follows won't tell you all about Kerpoof, but it will tell you what Kerpoof is all about.
What is Kerpoof? The answer to that is not so simple. Kerpoof is all about having fun, discovering things, and being creative. Here are just a few ways you can use Kerpoof:
Check out our What's New and How-To pages to learn more about what you can do with Kerpoof. Kerpoof doesn't come with a manual or a directory or a map. If we've done our job right, then finding your way to the various nooks and crannies of Kerpoof will be half the fun.
In addition to being a lot of fun, Kerpoof has many educational uses. Visit our educator page (with ideas and lesson plans for how to use Kerpoof) or read our flyer for educators if you are in a hurry but want to learn more.
If you are a parent and are reading this to make sure that Kerpoof is an appropriate web site for your child to visit, our "" page is for you!
The creation of Kerpoof would have not be possible without the dedication and support of a great many people and organizations, to all of whom we would like to express our greatest thanks (but we won't publicly list here).
Kerpoof's "Make a Movie" activity, has been supported in part by the National Science Foundation under SBIR Grant Number 0741208, and also by the BizWorld Foundation and the National Center for Women and Information Technology.
We hope it goes without saying, but, any ideas, opinions, or recommendations that are expressed on the Kerpoof website are strictly those of Kerpoof and do not necessarily reflect the views of any of the organizations that have supported Kerpoof, including those listed above.
We would like for Kerpoof to be a place where everyone can have fun. It is not intended for any particular audience, and it has many aspects that appeal to people of all ages and all backgrounds. Because children visit and enjoy Kerpoof, all of the content is child-appropriate, but that doesn't mean that the site is just for children. The oldest Kerpoof fan we know about is 90 and the youngest is 2!
As long as you know how to have fun, you should find a lot of fun to be had with Kerpoof. If you don't know how to have fun, Kerpoof is a good way to learn. Really. It's OK for lawyers to have fun, too.
Wait -- didn't we just say that Kerpoof was for everyone? Well, yes, but by that we meant only that we do our best to make Kerpoof available to everyone. We do not, however, intend for Kerpoof to appeal to everyone, and in that way Kerpoof is not for everyone and may not be for you. If you find that Kerpoof is not for you then please don't visit the site. We respect your opinion and we understand your point of view, but we cannot be all things to all people.
The Kerpoof website includes a great deal of content, all of which we have to judge for appropriateness. We avoid content that most people would find even mildly inappropriate as well as content related to sensitive subjects. We also avoid content that is objectionable or offensive to large segments of the population. While all content guidelines are ultimately up to us, we always welcome and appreciate constructive feedback.
Because we would like everyone to be able to have fun with Kerpoof, many things at Kerpoof are 100% free for our visitors. For some optional things we charge small fees.
The fact that Kerpoof is a mostly free website that only charges small fees for anything means a couple of things. First, the website content and services are offered without any type of warranty, and visitors do not get ownership rights to the things create with Kerpoof. You get basic rights to use the things you create on Kerpoof, but not to make money with them. Our Terms and Conditions give all the gory details about your rights as a Kerpoof visitor and what you can and cannot do with the Kerpoof website.
First, let us make it clear that you will never see any general advertising on Kerpoof, despite some crazy blogs to the contrary. Remember: there are always crazy blogs to the contrary.
Some of our scenes have been sponsored by other companies or non-profit organizations. Our scene sponsors include zoos, aquariums, and educational organizations. The only toy manufacturer that has so far been allowed to sponsor a Kerpoof scene is the Folkmanis Puppet Company, which sponsored a very fun Kerpoof creativity contest in 2007. We are very choosy when it come to selecting sponsors for Kerpoof, and we make sure that any sponsored content fits in and supplements the fun and "causual learning" nature of Kerpoof.
Kerpoof is committed to being a good web-citizen, particularly when it comes to privacy issues. You can read about the details in our Privacy Policy, but here are the key points. We do not request, collect, or track personally identifiable information. We do not share any infomation about individual visitors or any personally identifiable information with anyone else. "Personally identifiable" information includes anything that could be used to identify or communicate with an individual, including full name or email address.
We do track and study aggregate data about our visitors, which tells us useful things about what visitors like, dislike, and find confusing. We use this data to make our site better for everyone.
